Bluegrass Spartanburg is a concert series and community program established in 2015 by local bluegrass enthusiasts, originally known as the Chapman Cultural Center Bluegrass Series. Founded by Andrew Babb with the support of Peter Grzan (Piedmont Club General Manager), the organization's mission is to bring nationally recognized and award-winning bluegrass entertainment to the Spartanburg community.
The series has earned a reputation as one of the best bluegrass programs in the region, known for exceptional artist hospitality that has attracted acclaimed acts including the Steep Canyon Rangers, Flatt Lonesome, The Steeldrivers, and Rhonda Vincent. Today, Bluegrass Spartanburg operates as part of the Spartanburg Philharmonic, presenting concerts that span from traditional to contemporary bluegrass at the Chapman Cultural Center.
Beyond concerts, Bluegrass Spartanburg hosts monthly Bluegrass Jams on the third Monday of each month, inviting local pickers, strummers, and fiddlers to gather and play together. The organization embodies the spirit of grassroots arts advocacy, driven by passionate citizens dedicated to sharing bluegrass music with their community.
