About.

The NC Bluegrass Music Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and archiving the rich traditions of bluegrass and old-time music across North Carolina. Founded in 2012 and based in Cherryville, NCBGMA serves as a vital connector for musicians, bands, venues, and fans throughout the state.

The association provides members with a monthly newsletter featuring comprehensive listings of jam sessions, concerts, and venues across North Carolina. Member bands receive promotion through NCBGMA's radio programming on WGWG.org, featured placement on the organization's website with photos and links, and priority consideration when venues request live music. The association actively promotes member band shows to its Facebook community and helps connect performers with performance opportunities statewide.

NCBGMA maintains online resources including a directory of member bands, venue listings, radio show schedules, and festival calendars. The organization is developing youth music education programs and workshops to nurture the next generation of bluegrass musicians.

A key initiative is the NCBGMA Virtual Museum, an ongoing effort to collect and preserve North Carolina's bluegrass heritage through photographs, recordings, instruments, posters, oral histories, and memorabilia. The association welcomes contributions from those with artifacts connected to the state's bluegrass and old-time music history, working toward the eventual establishment of a physical museum.

Whether you're a performer, venue operator, or devoted fan, NCBGMA offers community, resources, and support for keeping North Carolina's bluegrass traditions alive.
